Adventures in Fixer-Uppers

So I wasn't entirely happy with the ivory-and-blue dress. Mostly, I was dissatisfied with the whole dress+top design; I would have preferred a one-piece dress.

So, while casting about for something else to do, I thought "what do I have to lose?" and ripped into it. I detached the bodice from the skirt, and sewed the top in its place. I also replaced the original snaps with a thin strip of Velcro.

I'm quite fond of the result. While I lost the pretty pointed waistline, the whole thing is far less bulky and fits nicely over a shift and petticoat. All in all, a gamble that paid off.

EDITED TO ADD: Everything Lissie's wearing in this photo - minus her Springfield Collection shoes - was made by me! Dress, shift, petticoat, stockings. That's a little bizarre, but nice. : D
